TWO NEW SITES TO SHARE WITH STUDENTS ON FINANCIAL AID

As always, parents and students alike sweat bullets about applying for or renewing financial aid with the schools. A friend of mine has just turned up two new sites that she wants to share with students across America.
It is very important as you start your application process to start the financial aid process as well, and it is "imperative" to not procrastinate with getting all the paperwork in.
However, if you have not filed for financial aid as of yet, you are not doomed yet.
The deadline is till June 30, 2010. REMEMBER, when it comes to financial aid, those who get their paperwork in early are the ones who wreak the rewards.
Here are the links to both filing early and also completing the renewal process. The first comes from the Student Loan Network. The second is from the U.S. Dept. of ED's Funding Education publications - CHECK THEM OUT!

FINANCING A COLLEGE EDUCATION
As a college admissions consultant, one of the things that we look at hard is financial aid. We realize the average family finds it difficult to phantom how to pay for such an expenditure when they first see the numbers involved.
We have different programs in place to help a variety of students -- including those who fall under the DREAM ACT.
At the College Admissions Consultant, we know college will probably be the second highest expenditure for your family, next to the purchase of your home. Therefore, part of our services being able to include and assist you with a certified college planning specialist is a process we pride ourselves in to make our whole program complete.
Our goal is to help you not only deal with the pressure of the college admissions process, but assisting you to line all of your tuition concerns up with a financial planner whose sole focus is to show you how to pay for college, and potentially make it a financial "non-event" for your family.
Have any questions, please contact us at counselor@thecollegeadmissionsconsultant.com

CLASS OF 2009 ACCEPTANCE STATISTICS ARE OUT NOW
Many people ask us "why is a college admissions consultant necessary?" They wait till the end of the 11th grade, or until is almost too late in the 12th grade to even get started on the process. Many parents find it hard to believe that if their student has good grades, and good scores, what the big deal is.
The big deal is that many more students are applying for college thus making the competition even steeper. If you look at the UC application, nothing has changed much in the past 50 or so years, EXCEPT that the mere number of students applying is driving the competition for some very limited spots.
Students and their families should have a consultant at their side because a consultant is the buffer that helps students and their families survive one of the most stressful times in a student's life. Working with so many students, a consultant can see ways to deal with situations more effectively.
Today, schools not only want to see you are a good student, they want to know why you think their school should admit you. It is easy to say that, but look at the
lateest numbers just released for the Ivy League and West Coast Colleges on their Admission Statistics for Class of 2009
THE IVIES:
Brown
Applied 16,911
Admit 2,557
Columbia
Applied: 18,125
Accepted: 2,312
Cornell
Applied: 24,452
Admitted: 6,621
Harvard

Princeton

Admitted: 1,807
Yale
Applied: 19,451
Admitted: 1,880
MIT
Applied: 10,440
Accepted: 1,494
Total number of applicants to all Ivy Schools was 149,825, and out of that number only 23,366 were accepted. In some cases, this is a less than 1 in 10 chance of getting in.
On the west coast, USC has gotten harder to get into than UCLA. Stanford and Berkeley still have very limited spots, and schools that 10 years ago were slam dunks to get into are now considered reach schools like Loyola-Marymount University. The latest numbers for these schools as follows:
Stanford
Applied: 20,195
Admitted: 2,426
USC
Applied: 30,000
Accepted: 4,000
UCLA
Applied: 45,000
